OpenDNS Plans Its First Big Growth Push With $4.5 Million In Fresh Cash

David Ulevitch

OpenDNS is an enterprise-security startup whose business has doubled year-over-year for the past two years.

It just moved into new offices in San Francisco’s SoMa district right by the Caltrain station. That’s the must-be neighborhood right now for startups.

When OpenDNS CEO David Ulevitch realized the company would soon run out of space in its existing digs, he started looking for a new home for the company.

And he found it around the corner, in a warehouse on Bluxome Street, an industrial alley that’s transforming into startup territory.

He designed the new offices himself, in part to save money and in part because he “loved the design process” and could make sure OpenDNS’s home was both “inspiring” and “comfortable.”
