Sony is expected to launch a new line of smartphones at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

A pair of Android-powered Xperia phones leaked via Xperia Blog. The smartphones are pretty powerful and should help to keep Sony relevant in 2013.

The Xperia Z “Yuga” and a sleeker ZL “Odin” both have a 5-inch 1080p display, 13 megapixel camera, 2GB RAM, quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, and a separate graphics processor.

The Yuga model is unique because it will be the premium model, featuring a water/dust resistant chassis.

Sony releasing a pair of 5-inch phones gives us insight into a particular trend that will explode in 2013: the rise of HD large screen smartphones.
