Facebook To Turbo-Charge "News Feed" And Sex Up "Like" Buttons To Appease Advertisers And Developers

Facebook is exploring making significant changes to its News Feed, report Emily Steel and Shayndi Raice of the Wall Street Journal.

The company is also planning to add new features to its popular “Like” button.

Why?

To appease frustrated advertisers and developers.

Right now, Facebook controls what does and doesn’t go into your News Feed, and advertisers and developers are reportedly annoyed that they can’t be certain that their messages–and engagement with their brands–won’t appear in there. 

The new News Feed may include an “unfiltered” version that includes everything your friends and advertisers say and do.

The company is also considering augmenting its “Like” button to include “other gestures,” such as allowing folks to identify products they want to buy or places they want to go.

The latter will give Facebook more data, which will presumably be useful for advertisers.
