Residents of the Irish village of Effin are unable to list where they live on Facebook because the village’s name is deemed offensive by the social network, reports the Guardian.

It’s causing some frustration. One resident of the village even set up a movement in protest. However, the “Please get my hometown Effin recognized” group was also deleted from the social network, because its name was obscene.

The Washington Post reports that the name actually dates back centuries to an Irish saint called Eimhin.

According to the BBC, Facebook has been contacted and replied by saying that residents would still be able to check-in when arriving in Effin. As for listing their location on their profiles, the 1,000 or so Effin residents can always list the nearby city of Limerick.

But that’s not going to suit everyone with one resident telling the Guardian:

“It will recognize Limerick but I’m not from Limerick city, I’m from Effin. I’m a proud Effin woman. And I always will be an Effin woman.”
