WordPress has grown rapidly over the years into the default CMS for the Web. Of course there are other options out there, some very good, but the king of the hill is clear.

And so, for most people hoping to run a blog, extending the functionality of WP often means flooding it with plugins from the site’s massive directory of more than 20,000 plugins. As you might expect, an over-reliance on plugins can become a very bad thing; leading to a slower, more vulnerable site.
