Evernote, the service that lets you take notes on pretty much every device, is crushing it. Giga Om reports that they’ve hit 10 million free users, and that premium subscriptions are also very good, at above 400,000.

The company has a goal of hitting 1 million paid users, and between the fact that both its free userbase and its conversion rates are growing fast, there’s no reason for them not to get there.

We love Evernote not just because it’s a great service but because it’s an exemplar of many important trends going on right now. Most of its growth is achieved through app stores, both mobile and on the Mac, which is very interesting. Even more interesting is that they’ve been one of the most successful companies at making the freemium business model work.
